Merisi Wines - 2016 Pinot Gris
Out of the glass, the 2016 Pinot Gris has Merisi’s signature sea fennel and umami notes. The aromatics also display some oolong tea and tropical lime. Once sipped, you will discover a surprising softness and mouth-filling sensation, a hint of warm pineapple, yet a wine that finishes light and dry.
These grapes were sourced from the small Jenkins Family Vineyard: a two acre vineyard in Los Carneros, Sonoma that is sustainably farmed by fourth generation farmers. Once hand-picked, the thoughtful pedigree of the grapes is complemented with minimal intervention in the cellar. Grapes are gently pressed (whole cluster) and fermented in neutral and stainless steel barrels and allowed to develop for seven months prior to bottling. This wine contains minimal sulfites, as only a hint was added at the time of bottling, but never before.
